What this Dubai Salik Toll Calculator does

One flat fee per gate crossing, no distance component — 2 km and 20 km through the same gate cost the same. Multiply monthly crossings by the per-crossing charge, add account fees, and a vague sense of "tolls add up" becomes a real monthly number.

Multi-gate routes (Sheikh Zayed Road, for one) need each gate counted separately — Salik charges per gate, not per trip.

Why people search for Dubai Salik Toll Calculator

Planning a commute route and weighing a toll-heavy road against a longer toll-free one.

Or the Salik deduction came in higher than expected and someone wants to know which gates are actually doing that.

How Dubai Salik toll works (educational)

Monthly cost = crossings × charge, plus fees. Two gates each way, five days a week, is 20 crossings before weekend driving even enters the picture.

How to use this calculator

  1. Count your total gate crossings for a typical month, not trips.
  2. Check the per-crossing rate matches your account, or leave the default.
  3. Add any account or tag fee.
  4. Tap Calculate to see the monthly Salik total.
  5. Compare against a toll-free alternate route if time allows.
  6. Check your actual statement and keep the account topped up.

Worked examples

Single-gate commute, 5 days

~22 crossings a month at the standard rate.

Two-gate route (SZR)

Double the crossings for the same commute — check both directions count.

Occasional driver

A handful of crossings, plus whatever balance keeps the account from going negative.

Tips to save money or avoid mistakes

  • Count gates, not trips — two gates costs double one gate for the same commute.
  • Keep the account topped up. A negative balance risks a fine bigger than the toll.
  • Check the monthly statement against this estimate — catches an unexpected extra gate.
  • If two routes are close on time, the toll-free one can still win once a month is totalled.
  • Add this to the Cost of Living transport line alongside fuel or metro.

Frequently asked questions

Does Salik charge per trip or per gate?

Per gate, not per trip. A multi-gate route like Sheikh Zayed Road charges each gate you pass separately, so a single commute can rack up two or more crossings.

Does the toll amount depend on distance?

No. Salik charges a flat fee per gate crossing regardless of how far you drive through it — 2 km and 20 km through the same gate cost the same.

What happens if my Salik account balance goes negative?

You risk a fine larger than the toll itself. Keep the account topped up rather than letting the balance run out.

Why is my Salik statement higher than I expected?

Usually an extra gate on the route that wasn't counted, rather than a rate change. Check your statement against a gate-by-gate count of your actual route.

What is the current Salik rate per crossing?

Salik moved to variable pricing on 31 January 2025. Monday to Saturday it is AED 6 per crossing during peak hours (06:00–10:00 and 16:00–20:00) and AED 4 off-peak (10:00–16:00 and 20:00–01:00). Crossings between 01:00 and 06:00 are free every day, and Sundays are AED 4 all day apart from that free window.
